Waterproof and super breathable! The North Face introduces new revolutionary fabrics

Founded in 1996, The North Face, a well-known outdoor sports brand in the United States, announced on January 8th that it will launch a new groundbreaking apparel fabric, Futurelight, to revolutionize the future of technology fabrics.

Compared to Gore-Tex fabrics used in traditional outdoor apparel, The North Face claims that their new fabrics are four times more breathable than the previous ones. Gore-Tex fabric is a waterproof, breathable and windproof fabric from Gore, which is widely used in the apparel industry. The North Face claims that their Futurelight is “the most advanced waterproof and breathable jacket technology to date” and may create a new round of competition in outdoor apparel fabrics.

According to the official introduction, Futurelight fabrics have high breathability and good waterproofing ability. Through the unique nano-textile technology, it can produce numerous nano-scale pores on the surface of the fabric, which not only ensures the waterproof performance is not lost, but also greatly improves the breathability of the fabric, improves the wearing comfort, and is also relatively thin and light. And it can adjust its weight, breathability, elasticity and other characteristics at the time of design according to the suitability of different garments.

Not only that, but the production process also adheres to the sustainable development philosophy that The North Face has consistently adhered to, and strives to minimize the impact of human beings on the natural environment. The factories that produce new fabrics use solar systems and use recycled fabrics in the manufacturing process.

Futurelight will debut in this year's The North Face 2019 Fall product line and will be used in the Peak Series. It may then expand its range of applications for use in waterproof T-shirts, sweaters and even Jeans.
